Zone Cross Country Running1

The 24th of May brought on a spectacular autumn day for the annual Zone Cross Country Championships at the iconic Kempsey Race Track.

Of the sixty-four Hastings Secondary College students who competed, over varying age groups and distances, we came away with an excellent result of forty-one runners qualifying for the regional championships at Nana Glen in late June.

An outstanding performance by Amber Korvemaa saw her takeout the girls under 14’s race, and Jayden Simmons performed particularly well, running into second place in his category. Also worthy of mention are Georgia Teeling, Lauren Jean and Chloe Templeman who all competed strongly, placing fourth in their respective age groups.

Other athletes to qualify by running in the top ten from Westport Campus include, Ben Webster, Andy Campfield, Montanna Simpson, Blair Kemsley, Kaiya O’Brien, Pheobie Brown and Cameron Halmi.
