The supported learning unit at Hastings Secondary College Westport Campus has hung their creative recycling dolphin themed mural taking pride position within the campus.
The project allowed around 17 students to build the recycling-conscience mural, using bottle tops, under the guidance of teachers Nikki Bawden, Paul Apthorpe and Shayne Bromfield.
The group have been collecting, washing and sorting donated recycling materials from local cafes, hospitals, schools and families over the past six months. The design has incorporated the Birpai Totem of the Dolphin.
The extra bottle tops will be used in the Precious Plastics project facilitated by Mr Godson and will be utilised to make prosthetic hands, artwork, furniture and other uses.
We are very proud of the students and thank the teachers for their assistance in making this mural come to life.
