On Thursday the boys U16’s team consisting of Oliver Barry, Ritchie Whitehouse, Holden O’brien, Daniel Harris, Darnell Scott, Kael Harris, Ross Charles and Fred Harris competed against three teams in a round robin competition that was split into two groups.
In our first game we unfortunately lost to would be winners of the competition Armidale, who beat us 4-0 due to some good play and well finished chances. We were not at all outplayed in this game but some unfortunate mistakes meant they got the better of us.
In our second game we beat Heritage 2-1, a game that we dominated and were unlucky not to get more goals in.
Our final game came against Taree High School, who were leading the group at the time. To finish second in the group and make the finals we needed to win by 5, and after fighting hard we came out 4-1 winners, unfortunately not enough to progress to the semis.
Three teams in our group finished equal on 6 points, but we were the least fortunate as our goal difference was not as good. All the boys played well and Darnell Scott in particular who the boys voted as their players player. A great effort but quite frustrating due to how close we came.
