The old adage that time flies when you’re having fun aptly describes the mood at Port Macquarie Campus lately. Here we are - half way through Term Three already!
Year 12 may not have been having fun in the last few weeks but they have reached a significant milestone in their HSC journey, finishing their Trial Examinations. This was an invaluable experience for their upcoming HSC examinations, which will be here before we know it. Some of them are also juggling HSC major projects and practical HSC examinations in the coming weeks.
Last Friday had perfect conditions for our Sky Stories which was hosted by the local high schools and CSU at Sancrox. The event was attended by over 500 community members who were able to experience a visual display like no other. Thanks to all the staff who organised this event.
Week 6 is another bumper week for our school
We will be introducing our new Mobile Devices policy so there will be some nervous young people in our midst. Parents, students, staff and the community have all had their say so we look forward to a more forward thinking and responsible way to use our mobile devices.
On Monday we will be privileged to have renowned Child Psychologist, Dr Michael Carr-Gregg visit our campus to deliver timely and appropriate seminars to all of our students. They will be discussing the complex issues that they encounter now as adolescents and will into the future as young adults. He will then share his wisdom with senior educators across the region and later run an evening session catered toward parents and other community members.
We will also be recognising our fabulous School Administrative and Support Staff (SASS Staff) who play a very important role in keeping our school running smoothly. Without them our school would grind to a halt. Jeni Scherf leads this fabulous team whose hard work is evident all over school from the front office, to the library, the school grounds and in classroom supporting students and organising resources. So next time you come into the school, give a nod of appreciation to our awesome team of SASS Staff.
Charles Sturt University Future Moves will be visiting Years 7, 8 and 9 to explore career planning and opportunities for the future. This is a rich program which will serve our younger students well as they begin their journey toward life after school.
