Principal Message

Students were welcomed back to classrooms at Westport Campus this week, and on behalf of our teachers and myself, we have been thrilled with the turn-out. The week has been an absolute success, and I want to thank our parents and students. The kids have loved being back, and our teachers have loved seeing them too.

This week we celebrated National Reconciliation Week and its theme ‘In This Together. This year Reconciliation Australia marks twenty years of shaping Australia’s journey towards a more just, equitable and reconciled nation.

We are also really looking forward to Wednesday 3rd of June where we will be officially opening our Aboriginal Connections Hub at Westport Campus. There has been a lot of work that has gone into beautifying the room and making it an attractive room to visit. This room is an area where students can learn and connect with one another in a cultural significant environment.

Year 10 students are now planning for their transition into Year 11. They will soon begin to understand their individual characteristics better and start to plan their future.

The subject selection marks the beginning of Year 10 students making decisions about their senior school options. Timeline for Subject Selection and a copy of the Senior Study Guide Year 11 2021 can be viewed at on our website Transition Year 10 into Senior School. Subject Selection Guide Link.

Westport Campus has a uniform policy which has been developed in consultation with the P&C Association. Our school community believes that a school uniform is an essential part of a student’s life at the school. The wearing of school uniform is a symbol of pride in the school.

There is an expectation that students comply with the uniform dress requirements. I am starting to see non-compliant jumpers and track pants being worn by students. If your child is out of uniform, please provide a note stating why. If you require assistance in purchasing our uniform, please contact the office and we will be able to assist you. It is important to note that hoodies are not part of our uniform and are not to be worn at school.

The campus uniform guide, price list and uniform operating hours can be found on our website. Uniform Information Link.

Council has advised that parents are double parking and parking across driveways particularly around Garden Village.

The staff carpark is not to be used as our special needs students require access for a safe pick up. Please take note of signage and ensure road rules are being followed. A blitz around this area will be undertaken, and fines may be imposed.

Finally, our relieving Deputy Principal Mr Rob Lyttle has just taken up a reliving Principal position at Kempsey High School for the remainder of the year.

Mr Lyttle has been a member of our College staff for the past 12 months and we have been very grateful for his contribution to both Campuses. We wish Mr Lyttle all the very best at Kempsey High School.

I would also like to note the following temporary movement of roles within Westport Campus

Relieving Deputy Principal – Mrs Linda Best (for remainder of Term 2)

Relieving English Head Teacher – Mrs Kate Henderson

Year 10 Advisor – Ms Clare Wilson (ongoing)

Girls Advisor – Mrs Sarah Rowsell
