Hi,

Fantastic result for our Robotic Team last weekend. The team competed in the Duel Down Under which is an off-season event co-ordinated by Macquarie University. This very competitive event consisted of the major players in the school robotics competition and our alliance was awarded first place overall in the competition. Not only were we part of the winning alliance we also collected one of the more prestigious awards which were ‘Excellence in Robot Design’.

Congratulations to all involved. Job well done.

This week we celebrated NAIDOC (National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee) Week and it's theme Voice, Treaty and Truth. Year 7 and campus Aboriginal students took part in the celebration event. Students joined together at the college's Port Macquarie campus for a morning of storytelling to understand the struggles and triumphs local Aboriginal people have endured.

Charlie Maher was inducted into the College NAIDOC Hall of Fame. The award recognises Charlie’s outstanding contribution in support of the development of educational opportunities for Aboriginal students.

Westport Idol will be occurring on Friday 9 August. This has always been a fun event were students (and staff) can showcase their talents on stage. Should be a great event.

We continually try to improve our processes and procedures. Please contact me if you had feedback around what we do and how we do it at the Westport Campus.

Regards

Ian
