Principal's Message - Westport Campus

I am constantly amazed at the number of opportunities that are available to students in the college. At Monday’s assembly I spoke to students about taking advantage of these opportunities and of the benefits that they bring. These opportunities include expanded friendship groups, a new skill developed or being able to experience something new, that they may not necessarily have come upon before in their school career.

Our Robotic team (6508) once again went above and beyond in the First Robotics Competition in Sydney last weekend. In excess of 60 teams from Australasia were in the event. At the end of the preliminary section the Hastings team was ranked number 1. Unfortunately during the semi-finals one of our alliance teams had technical difficulties which impacted our chance of moving forward in the competition. Fantastic result overall and a huge congratulation to Mr King and his team of parents, student and other college personnel for their outstanding efforts.

Hannah Faux has again performed at an amazing level in cricket. Last week she was selected in the Australian U/18 Female Team. Super stuff.

The campus hosted our first parent/student/teacher afternoon for the year. The afternoon was well attended and parents/carers were happy with the online booking system through the Parent Portal. I received a lot of positive feedback with regard to the academic and social support we are providing for students at the Westport Campus.

If you are utilising the Westport Campus as a voting booth this weekend you may like to buy a sausage sandwich from our onsite BBQ. I am currently raising funds to support the Cancer Council through the Port Macquarie Dancing with the Stars. I am performing in the event on the 5 April. Wish me luck.
