It never ceases to amaze me how wonderful our students are here at the Westport Campus. This was again confirmed this morning when a parent and two potential students were being shown around the campus. Whilst visiting the TAS kitchen area a student stopped what they were doing and offered the new students some of his pizza scroll that he had just made. Similarly when they were visiting the TAS Industrial Arts area a number of students made them feel welcomed by saying hello. Great to experience this type of behaviour in our educational community.

Year 10 are currently sitting their examinations with Year 11 following next week. As I have mentioned before it is a great opportunity for students to demonstrate what they have learnt and then to receive feedback on how they can strengthen their individual course knowledge.

The students who attended the Wingham Cattle Week last week returned with an added appreciation of what the cattle business is all about. That excursion is a great example of authentic learning in practice.

Please add to your diary the college Year 10 – 11 Subject Information Evening that will be held at the Panthers Club on Tuesday 4 June 2019 at 6pm. This event is one of the ways that students can talk to specific teachers about course content and expectations, meet representatives from TAFE and local universities as well as other organisations that accommodate students in training after they leave school.

It is vital that students get as much information about the senior pathway that best suites them. This will allow them to make an informed decision about their future and how they are going to get there.

Congratulations to the 22 students from our college that participated in the Science and Engineering Challenge in Kempsey this week. Students came away with a fantastic result, bringing home the Champion School trophy for their work across eight practical activities. Well done.

Congratulations to the Year 11 film makers, Danielle Aylett, Mary Azzopardi, Tarsha Brady, Jackson Line, Madisan Rogers, Holly Thompson and Adam Wall, whose short films have been selected for the Film By Invitation, screening at the Bryan Brown Theatre in Bankstown on the 21st June. This is a prestigious event which will be viewed by special guests Bryan Brown, Murat Dizdar and other representatives from the film industry

Finally I wish to again acknowledge the fantastic effort that my staff do on a daily basis. They continually go ‘above and beyond’ to deliver quality outcomes for students and help support the operational management of the college.
