It was a pleasure to attend our monthly P& C meeting on Monday evening. This group of dedicated parents fulfil such an integral part of our school through their guidance and feedback in relation to the running of the school, managing the canteen and uniform shop as well as their commitment to raising much needed funds to support our students’ learning. We truly value their ongoing contribution.
An important component of the school is the ongoing Professional Learning we deliver to our staff. This week we held a Staff Development afternoon where we focussed on teaching Literacy Skills, Positive Behaviour for Learning systems as well as maintaining our practical accreditation in CPR.
One of the highlights of the school year is the running of our Year 12 major works showcase in Visual Arts, Drama, Music, Photography and Industrial Technology Timber, prior to their submission date for marking. On Thursday night, students from these faculties exhibited their HSC works to parents and staff. The talent was amazing and a big congratulations must go to Mrs Bone, Mrs Wilkinson, Mrs Trotter and Mr Finnerty for supporting their students throughout the year.
May I also take this opportunity to promote our evening with child psychologist Michael Carr-Gregg who will be speaking to our parents at Port Macquarie Campus on Monday night. Dr Michael Carr-Gregg has a very good knowledge of the challenges many teenagers and their parents face on a daily basis and offers realistic solutions to help us all get through these difficult times. The event starts at 6pm and tickets can be purchased through the following link. Raising Resilient Happy Children - The Five Greatest Parent Challenges.
