We are very privileged to have created a close partnership with our local Charles Sturt University, which enables our students to participate first hand in information sessions, such as the Study Skills workshop for our Year 12 students held this week. Seminars such as these look at the different ways students can study, take notes and improve their time management.
We held our Staff Development afternoon on Tuesday with a focus on reviewing our recent HSC results. Ongoing evaluation of current teaching practices is a very important factor towards ensuring our teachers deliver the best possible education for all students.
The highlight of the week for our Year 7 and 8 college students was the "Get your Glow On Disco" on Thursday night. Face-painting, glow sticks, a photo booth, pizza, and games all featured at the event which is run by our P&C from both Campuses, with the assistance from staff. This was a great opportunity for students to catch up with old friends that they may not have seen since primary school.
I would like to thank the hard work of our P&C for their organisation and our teachers for giving up their time to ensure all the students had a great night. We are also very grateful for our Year 10 Peer Support Leaders giving up their time to help run games throughout the night.
We are really looking forward to the start of our Hastings Valley Community of Schools ‘College Connect’ evenings commencing on Monday. Staff and students from the College will be visiting each of our feeder primary schools to share with them the great opportunities Hastings Secondary College has to offer. I would like to congratulate Mr Dale Hastings (Japanese / English teacher) who will be the 2021 Year 7 Advisor.
