This morning as I write this week's report, I can hear our Year 12 Music students performing their final practice before today’s HSC Performance Examination. The 2019 Year 12 Music cohort are a very talented group and we have had the privilege of watching them perform throughout the years at major community events, assemblies, ceremonies and school productions. A big thank you also goes to their teacher, Mrs Bone who has maintained a very high expectation from them and has certainly nurtured & developed their unique talent.
The Year 11 students are currently half way through their End of Course Examination. May I take this opportunity to remind both the students and parents/carers that a balanced approach to this week is important for them to perform at their best. As Dr Michael Carr-Gregg (child psychologist) told us during the term, sleep and healthy meals is imperative to help reduce stress and maintain concentration. I wish all Year 11 students the best of luck during this time.
We were very excited to view the Year 9 Home Economics cake decoration assessment task that took place yesterday. It is always a favourite time of the year where the students are required to come up with their own artistic cake design. The cakes are then placed on display for staff and students to vote on. I was amazed at some of the fantastic designs the students came up with and it was very hard to select a favourite.
As part of nurturing the ‘whole child’, Year 7 travelled to Kempsey to participate in a Sports Gala Day with the Port Macquarie and Kempsey High schools. This day gives an ideal opportunity for students to socialise in a fun way, meet new students and develop new friendships. A big thanks to Ms Stapleton for organising this trip.
High participation rates in the Tell Them From Me parent survey helps schools reliably identify areas of strength and areas for improvement from the perspective of parents, and helps inform practical changes where needed. This survey can be completed online. I would really appreciate as many surveys as possible being completed. It is important to our school and to me that our community has a voice. I can assure you that the information gathered will be used to increase the bond and communication between home and school. This information will also be used in conjunction with our planning for next year. We would really appreciate if you could take 10 minutes to complete the survey.
