On Wednesday we had a fantastic day at our swimming carnival. The weather held off all day, right up until the students were boarding the bus to go home. It’s always great to see the students dress up in House colours, cheer one another along and have a great time. Always highlights of the day are the staff verses students relay as well as the ‘belly flop’ competition. We wish the best of luck to the students who will progress through to the next level in their events.
We were very fortunate to have the opportunity to host the Minister for Education and Early Childhood Learning, the Honourable Sarah Mitchell for a brief College visit on Wednesday afternoon. We are seeking upgrades to our current infrastructure across both Campuses and this was an ideal opportunity to speak with the Minister directly. Mrs Mitchell was certainly impressed with the innovative educational programs we are currently delivering, especially in the area of Senior Pathway options.
For all our Year 7 & 8 students – our combined College P & C are running a disco next Thursday night at Westport Campus hall. The purpose of the disco is to continue to foster peer relationships between Campuses as it gives the students the chance to catch up with old Primary friends as well as making new ones.
The highlight of the week was certainly the Hastings Secondary College Awards of Distinction held at Panthers on Monday night. Students, teachers and community members across both campuses were recognised for their outstanding achievements and contributions towards the College. It also gave us the opportunity to acknowledge the great career of our Executive Principal Mr Holvast, who is now currently on leave pending retirement.
As the week comes to an end, we certainly have been blessed with the much needed rain which has assisted our firefighters, farmers as well as filling up our dams.
