The 2018 school year has again demonstrated the fantastic efforts of students, staff and community in the pursuit of opportunities for students to grow in their learning and for us to be active and supportive members of the Port Macquarie community.
A number of our students represented the college at the ‘Schools Spectacular’ event in Sydney last week. A huge amount of organisation goes into making that event an absolute showcase of public education. A big shout out to the students involved and to the staff who continually support those students in giving them opportunities such as this.
Our robotic team continued to demonstrate outstanding results last week. They put in a great effort in the regional ‘Lego League’ competition in Coffs Harbour and as a result of this, the team was invited to compete in the NSW competition in Wollongong last Saturday. Another fantastic outcome was achieved with the team finishing a brilliant overall second. This has given them an invitation to the national playoffs which is scheduled for the weekend of 8/9 December 2018. Super Stuff!
Monday and Tuesday of Week 7 saw various partnership primary schools vie for the award of Top Team in ‘My Kitchen Rules’. Students designed and produced their own recipes which were then judged by an independent panel (members of the local Country Women’s Association). The competition was facilitated by the TAS Faculty at the Westport Campus.
Don’t forget that there are a number of events coming up. Year 6 to Year 7 Orientation Day in on Tuesday 4 December 2018. The Westport Campus Presentation Day is on Friday 14 December 2018 at 9.30am. Please come along, if you are able, to help us celebrate great student achievements in 2018.
