Principal Message

Another big week on the campus. Year 10 have enjoyed themselves on the Gold Coast with plenty to see and do up there. Year 8 participated in their rewards day on Thursday where they enjoyed a trip to Port Central to see the new Adams Family movie. Other reward days for year groups are to follow. It is pleasing to note that very few students have been restricted from going on these excursions. It is a requirement that a student needs to have accrued a number of positive reward points throughout the year and have minimal negative referrals.

You may be aware that Willem Holvast, the Hastings Secondary College Executive Principal, will be on leave next year pending retirement. Willem has had a distinguished career in NSW Public Education and has been instrumental in leading the College for the past four years. We wish him all the best with a well-earned break. I will be relieving as Executive Principal while Willem is on leave. Duncan Kirkland will replace me as the Westport Campus Principal for this time.

Year 7 and Year 8 Zenith classes have been working on collaborative projects over the past weeks. This exercise is ideal for developing communication, organisational and collaborative practices in students. They presented their projects at Charles Sturt University today.

Presentation Day is on next Friday the 13 of December at 9.30am. It is an opportunity for us to celebrate and acknowledge student success. Please log this important event in your diary. We hope to see you there.

Warm regards,

Ian Ross
