Hi, and welcome to my final newsletter for Term 3 2020.

Year 11

Final course examinations were completed this week. These exams will give valuable feedback to students on individual course content knowledge and skills. My advice is that students use this feedback to inform them on how to improve their results as they transition to Year 12. Classroom teachers, Year Advisors or the Career advisor are available for support if required.

Year 12

Year 12 had their practice graduation event on Thursday. It gave me the opportunity to have my photo taken with each student. I look forward to this event as, to me, it is an indication that the work that we have put into supporting these young people over the last 13 years is coming to a close and that they, as young adults, will be transitioning to post school options. Year 12 Reports will be issued on 15 October in an Assembly that will also include the induction of the 2021 campus leadership team. The Year 12 Graduation will be on the 12 November with the Formal on the 18 November at the Sails Resort. These dates have been selected as they align with the reduction in Covid-19 restrictions.

Advice for families

Some of the activities that can now proceed for Term 4 with restrictions are:

  • Kindergarten orientations
  • Year 6-7 transitions
  • Interschool activities
  • End of year celebrations such as graduations and dances
  • Excursions and day camps.

All other activities remain unchanged. Some of these activities are:

  • Interstate and international excursions are still not permitted
  • Staff professional development activities
  • HSC student preparations
  • COVID-19 Safety Plan requirements for Year 12 formals and graduations.

I will update Covid-19 details on the college website, Facebook and via SMS as they evolve.

I would like to pass on my gratitude to the college staff and our fabulous community for the continuous support that they give the college and the campus. Thank you to the parents who have provided feedback to me regarding our recent parent teacher conferences. Your feedback helps us improve on the things we do. One clear message I received is that face to face conferences are the preferred option. I know this is also the feeling from staff.

Please have a restful and relaxing break. College / Campus programs recommence on Monday 12 October 2020. I look forward to catching up then.
