There is a powerful shift taking place in Public Education at Port Macquarie. Our wider community is seeing the wonderful learning opportunities taking place at Hastings Secondary College Port Macquarie Campus. Never before have I witnessed the strong links between partner primary schools in forging a powerful, smooth transition for Year 6 students to a secondary setting. I was overwhelmed with the demonstration of this connection at Tuesday’s Year 7 2020 Open Night. All of our partner primary school principals joined us in welcoming children to our campus. This reassures parents that the K-12 learning journey happens successfully because of the many hands touching the lives of every student.
How do I know there is a shift? Tuesday evening was attended by over 350 parents who came to see our STEM, Creative Arts and Sports Academies, Wellbeing, Supported Learning and Zenith programs. This is four times the audience size of just a few years ago, as an organisation we feel the success of our College, as with all of our Hastings schools, is centred on the fact that we care about each and every student and are working in partnership across our network to deliver exemplary learning in every school.
I was very pleased with the motivation displayed by our Year 7 and Year 9 students in undertaking the NAPLAN tests to the best of their ability. Well done! These tests support us in identifying areas for improvement and adjusting our teaching and learning programs to best meet the needs of every student.
To every staff member at Port Macquarie Campus, a reminder that your work does not go unnoticed. Your care and excellent teaching instruction is what I see every day. Thankyou.
