Principal Message Westport Campus

It has been a busy and eventful four weeks, as a community, we have achieved some exciting milestones together.

The commitment and resilience from our students and our teachers this term has been nothing short of remarkable and look forward to the next six weeks which include welcoming our Year 7 2021 students.

This week Year 12 students will reach an important milestone, ending this chapter before taking on the challenges and joys of the next pathway.

This important milestone will end of this chapter of their lives before they take on the challenges of the next. The Graduation will be held in the MPC, and guests will be able to enter the venue from 9.00am. We do need to follow our COVID Safety Plan and maintain a checklist of those attending and also to seat guests as per our seating plan. Year 12 students, please arrive at 8.15 am and the graduation ceremony will commence at 9.30 am.

Year 7 -10 Examinations

Year 7 - 10 students will undertake end of course examinations starting next week. Year 11 have begun the HSC course in each of their subjects and should be preparing for the first of their very important HSC assessments scheduled for this term.

College and Campus Planning

Planning for 2021 is well underway with subject choices and patterns of study already determined for students and the timetable for the upcoming year almost finalised. The Department of Education has provided each campus with targets they need to attain over the next four years.

We are currently undertaking a Situational Analysis for the school, so we will be able to develop a new School Implementation Plan (SIP). This analysis of our current situation and the data around enrolment, attendance, wellbeing and student growth and achievement will guide our future planning to improve learning outcomes for students.

Parent Lounge

Thank you to our P&C Association who organised our Parent Lounge session on Thursday night. It was very well received with a groundswell of support to introduce our new Mobile Phone policy for 2021

I will be discussing this with our students over the coming weeks knowing I now have the support of the P&C Association, the wider community and staff.

We also discussed our refurbishment – concept designs and staging for the Hastings Secondary College Infrastructure upgrade.

Sista Connections Launch

Sista Connections Program was launched last week. Sista Connections provides academic support, empowerment through entrepreneurialism and employment, wellbeing and community connections aim to reduce barriers that may prevent Aboriginal girls from completing their education and reaching their full potential. The program will run across both the Port Macquarie and Westport campuses.
