All parents and carers are invited to attend a FREE ‘Safe on Social Media' workshop presented by guest speaker, Kirra Pendergast (Accredited trainer through eSafety Commission) on Monday 22 October at 6 pm. During this two-hour workshop, you will learn simple steps you can take to reduce the risks for your children online.
Most parents will agree that trying to navigate their child safely through the minefield of their online interests could be closely likened to trying to eat jelly with a fork.
Keeping our children safe online with concerns such as predators, cyber-bullying, identity theft, and sexting. These are issues all parents need to take an active role in managing and being aware of, their children's online safety and digital reputation.
Did you know that predators can listen and collect information through online games?
The presentation will cover many elements of social media safety and welfare, discussing real-life case studies and strategies for parents to support their children.
Some topics include privacy, stranger danger, photos and sexting, safe social networking, cyber-bullying, identity theft and managing your digital footprint. Our digital footprints reach further than expected and can sometimes have damaging consequences.
There is plenty of time allocated for questions so bring along your burning questions or scenarios you would like discussed.
Facilitator Kirra Pendergast has over 27 years of experience in the Information Security and Business Consulting Industries and has presented to more than 300,000 students, their parents, and teachers.
