The Hastings Secondary College Girls Cricket team travelled to Bathurst from the 1st – 3rd of April to compete in the NSW CHS State Finals for the Marie Cornish Trophy.
The semi-final was played against Hills Sports High School (a selective sports school) which contained 7 NSW State players and a player from the Women’s Sydney Sixers Big Bash team. Our girls played well but they were defeated in this match, with Sophia Mavros top scoring for us. We then came up against Blaney High School in the Comprehensive Schools Final however Blaney proved too strong on the day. Sophia Mavros, again top scored for our team with a few of the girls taking some well-deserved wickets. Unfortunately, Hannah Faux injured her hand early in the first game and was unable to bat or bowl in either game.
At the conclusion of the day the girls were proud of their achievements with Hastings Secondary College finishing 2nd in the State for the Comprehensive Schools (public schools not including Sports High Schools) and 4th overall in the State. Well done to the whole team!
