Friday 4 September is The National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence. Westport Campus will be undertaking several sessions and discussions with students that contribute to the creation of appropriate and relevant strategies to respond to bullying. These discussions will work with empowering student voice engagement as well as lesson plans during the day.
The Westport Campus Student Leadership team will share a role play video on bullying for students and will be used as a conversation starter during lessons.
The day will be out of uniform, and students are encouraged to wear bright colours to brighten everyone’s mood.
Fun activities will happen over Lunch 2, including unicycle training, music, painting activities, and a Teachers verse students netball game and golf chipping, Finska, to name a few.
Food and drink will also be sold on the day.
How parents can respond
Children and young people need to know that they are being heard, that their feelings matter and that their issue will be investigated respectfully. Bullying should be taken seriously.
