This year’s roadshow had 35 young men in attendance representing Kempsey, Melville, Orara, Chatham and Hastings Secondary Clontarf academies.
To ensure all boys registered in Clontarf academies have the best possible chance when it comes to employment prospects, we assist the boys in collating all necessary employment documents needed when the time comes to seek employment.
On the day every young man that attended sat down with a Clontarf staff member to discuss their future aspirations, as well as completed a Graduate Employment Plan, resume and paperwork to get a Tax File Number.
Some practiced their Driving Knowledge Test and others went for a professional driving lesson with an instructor.
Everyone that attended also took part in some information presentations. Chris Trutwein from BlueBird Learners discussed the Keys2Drivng program that all boys have free access to and Latoya and her team at Mid North Coast Legal Community Centre discussed with the boys what their legal rights are when entering into the workforce.
The day concluded with a talk from two time Paralympic Gold Medallist Ryley Batt. Ryley, discussed his life story with the boys and the challenges he has had to overcome to become the professional athlete and successful person he is today. Ryley left the boys with a message to ‘set yourself goals’ and ‘try to remain positive when things don’t go your way’.
All the boys and staff would like to thank all the speakers for their contributions on the day, Chris and Bruce for doing the driving instructor lessons and Meredith and Kristie from Charles Sturt University for allowing us to use their fantastic facilities.Thank you.
