ANZAC day

Our schools have an essential role to play in nurturing the ANZAC spirit. Hastings Valley Community of Schools (HVCS) is actively involved in keeping this legacy burning brightly.

Our community families play a huge role in keeping the ANZAC spirit alive, and encourages parents and carers to make it a real experience for their children, by sharing in their pride walking beside them in the ANZAC march. The Anzac story is so important to Australia.

Hastings Secondary College students Cameron Halmi and Bridget Flint were chosen to represent the Port Macquarie Hastings community to address the dawn service and the ANZAC morning service.

These students speeches were standouts in this year's commemoration. All HSVC school captains laid wreaths at the cenotaph and paid their respects to soldiers both past and present.

Our students representing our cadet armed services marched with pride and dignity alongside the sounds of music of campus students who are part of the town band.

What an honour it was to hear the beautiful voice of Year 9 student Keanu Bowman who sang both the New Zealand National Anthem and the Australian National Anthem with such pride and respect for our nation.

Congratulations to all our children, teachers and parents who attended today.

It was great to see you all there keeping the ANZAC spirit alive.
