The bittersweet moment has come for us at Hastings Secondary College to say farewell to our much loved Executive Principal Mr Willem Holvast. Willem will retire from the Executive Principal role at the end of 2019.
During his tenure at Hastings Secondary College, Mr Holvast has assembled an impressive list of accomplishments. A record that he credits to having occurred "fundamentally because we have members of staff who care greatly for our students, our College, our campuses and our community. It is because of this that our College has enjoyed significant growth in the provision of opportunities for, and accomplishments by, our students. Our college community continues to excel in robotics, STEM, sport, performing arts, Aboriginal education through the Clontarf Academy and planning for the Girl’s Academy in 2020 and Pathways options for our senior students, to name a few. Hastings Secondary College is well-positioned as we continue to serve our community and our students with distinction”.
In true Willem Holvast style, his introduction of these accomplishments was very thoughtful. He said, "There are many examples of growth and evolution over more recent years in the College's journey, demonstrating our holistic approach to education and a leader in innovation, opportunity, success and excellence."
Willem’s honour and integrity that were felt daily in every facet of the campuses and the community are two qualities he leaves behind embedded in Hastings Secondary College.
The College has supported and grown many teams of champions and, more importantly, many champion teams, in the diverse academies and programs through which the campuses work with parents to educate and raise children in preparation for adulthood.
The schools honours and thanks you, Mr Holvast, from the depth of all our hearts. We will miss your infectious smile, your sense of humour, your kindness and even your "dad" jokes!
You will always be welcome at Hastings Secondary College. We wish you and your family all the very best as you embark on new adventures.
Mr Ian Ross (current Principal Westport Campus) will commence in the position of relieving Executive Principal in 2020. Congratulations Mr Ross.
