Hastings Secondary College Port Macquarie Campus were well represented at the North Coast Gymnastics trials at Woolgoolga last week.

The team (as pictured) Catalina Tuite, Lucy Wager, Maddy Barry, Skye Vaughan and Jade Vaughan were successful in being selected in the North Coast team and are training hard for State Championships that will be held in Newcastle in August.

This is also  the largest  team our campus has sent in gymnastics with Lucy, Caitalina and Maddy making their debut at NSW Combined High Schools (CHS) state championships, Jade is in her 3rd year and year 12 student Skye Vaughan has represented Hastings Secondary College every year since year 7.

Gymnastic is a gift that teaches and encourages an active life. This love of movement translates into other sports as well as a lifetime of activity. The sport develops coordination, strength development, flexibility, social skills, self confidence, politeness, work ethic, discipline, and determination.

These student gymnasts are often challenged to try new things and have developed strategies to overcome things that they see as impossible encouraging them to try new things both in the gym and in life.

These athletes will compete at the State Championships on Parallel Bars, High Bar, Vault and Floor both individually and in teams.

Good luck at the State Championships in August.
