Clontarf - Tree Planting Day

Hastings Secondary College Clontarf boys participated in the National Schools Tree Planting day at Mrs York’s Garden on Wednesday, learning a brief history of the gardens and enjoying the planting activity with guidance from local volunteers.

The young men did a fantastic job planting approximately 100 ground covering plants including native Dianella and Lomandra species in the lateral rainforest section of the gardens. It was a great opportunity for the boys to work on the Clontarf pillars of wellbeing and partnerships, communicating with adults, and developing a sense of pride within their community.

Mrs York’s Garden is hosting a community tree-planting day Sunday 28 July for anyone with a ‘green-thumb’ interested in getting involved.
