The easing of Covid-19 restrictions in New South Wales’s Mid North Coast region has enabled academies to start engaging in social sporting activities with the commencement of an inter-academy rugby league competition.
Hastings Secondary College – Port Macquarie Campus had the privilege of hosting the first round against Chatham High School on the afternoon of Wednesday 29July, which proved to be perfect playing conditions. It was great to see all the boys demonstrating great sportsmanship, comradery and Clontarf Spirit. Both teams put on a great display of skill in both offense and defence going try for try throughout the game. In the end, it was Chatham that came through with the win 28-20.
Special mention goes out to Port Macquarie academy with only five players that play weekend comp. It was good to see eight school staff show up and get into supporting the fellas and asking where and when the next game is, even willing to travel so they can come support. After the game both sides mingling over a couple sausage sandwiches really showing off their Clontarf spirit. The boys can not wait until the next round at Kempsey in week 6.
