All school and bus route services are continuing to run as normal.
Public transport is an essential service and Busways is working with Transport for NSW to ensure vital services keep running for all of our customers.
Busways is monitoring Government advice throughout each day, and implementing changes as required. The health and well-being of our people and our communities is our highest priority and we are committed to doing all we can to ensure the safety of all of our staff and passengers.
Busways has introduced extra cleaning on buses and every bus will receive disinfectant treatment every day, including all regularly touched areas, such as hand rails, poles, seats and doors.
We have introduced additional procedures for all Busways employees to follow in order to limit an chance of the virus spreading, for example employees must wash their hands every time they enter and leave a worksite, cash handling will be minimised to avoid additional contact and employees have been advised to stay home if they are unwell.
When a student experiences flu-like symptoms, until they know what type of illness they have, they must stay home, and avoid contact with other people. Parents should seek medical advice via the phone and follow all recommendations from their medical professional. Students experiencing flu-like symptoms or meeting the government’s mandatory self-isolation criteria should not be catching the bus. The current government mandatory requirements of a 14-day isolation are for anyone who has either:
- Returned to Australia within the last 14 days
- Been in contact with a known confirmed case of COVID-19
- This information may change at any time subject to Government decisions.

Parents are encouraged to regularly check the Busways website at www.busways.com.au for updates and announcements regarding bus services for schools in case changes happen unexpectedly outside of school hours.
