Year 8 student, Kayle Enfield is off to South Australia in the first week of December to battle for the U16 Australian Surfing Title.
Over the last few months, Kayle has won the Regional Title – held at Town Beach and then made the final at the State competition held in Coffs Harbour.
Having only just turned 14, this is an outstanding achievement for Kayle as he is competing against boys two years older than him. Kayle has been supported by Coastline Credit Union throughout this journey who have generously committed to paying for Kayle's air flights, entry fees, and have also taken him down to the local surf shop (Saltwater Wine) to buy a new travel cover for his surfboards.
This was presented at the campus assembly by Mr Mitch van Der Veer from Coastline Credit Union.
Coastline Credit Union wanted to make the stress of travel a little easier for Kayle so he can focus on the competition. "Regardless of Kayle's results in December, to get behind a great local kid, who comes from an amazing family is an absolute privilege for Coastline, said Mr van Der Veer.
Coastline Credit Union's journey with Kayle Enfield began earlier this year when Hastings Secondary College hosted the NSW Junior Surf School Regional Titles. I was invited as an ambassador from Coastline as Head Judge for this event where we saw Kayle dominate through the rounds to claim a great victory there. Once we learned of his performances at the State Titles and his qualification to the Australian Titles we jumped at the opportunity to support him as he makes his way to South Australia to compete in December.
Mr van Der Veer is an ex-Pro surfer "I've watched intently at the rise of Kayle's abilities over the past few years. His surfing has so much style, and technically is very sound! He surfs with a real sense of maturity even though he's only 14. As an employee of Coastline, I'm very thankful they have given me the freedom to be in Kayle's corner on this journey of the Australian Titles, so I look forward to seeing him tear it up down in South Australia".
All the best Kayle for the Australian Titles in South Australia.
