The annual trip to AgQuip started off on day one with a trip to the University of New England (UNE) where students were taken on a tour and shown the new agricultural and research facilities. We then went on to visit the University's SMART Farm Innovation Centre, located at the Kirby Farm close by the campus.
The Innovation Centre, which sits right in the middle of the operating grazing pasture of UNE’s Sustainable, Manageable, Accessible, Rural Technologies (SMART) Farm is directly connected to a high speed optical fibre network. It is an inspirational research, education and outreach facility built to showcase the integration of technology, science and farming.
Day two involved attending AgQuip, visiting sites and learning about one of Australia’s largest farming field days around.
